Hull vs Manchester United – Premier League 2026/27 Match Preview & Betting Tips

Hull vs Manchester United Preview

Hull vs Manchester United kicks off the first Saturday of the 2026-27 Premier League season.

The Tigers earned promotion to the top flight through the play-offs, and not many people believe Sergej Jakirovic’s side have what it takes to avoid relegation.

As for United, this is the first season with Michael Carrick as permanent manager of the club. The Englishman transformed the team’s trajectory last term after taking over from Ruben Amorim on an interim basis.

A win to start 2026-27 is the order of the weekend for the Red Devils, though Hull will hold aspirations of springing a surprise at the MKM Stadium in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Recent results

After beating Middlesbrough 1-0 in the Championship Play-Off Final, Hull enjoyed a fairly successful pre-season campaign. Consecutive wins vs Konyaspor (0-3) and Rizespor (1-2) were followed by a 1-1 draw with Kasimpasa, before a 2-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt and a 0-0 draw vs Nice.

United’s summer began with a 1-0 loss to Wrexham, but Carrick’s men then collected back-to-back triumphs over Rosenborg (0-5) and Atletico Madrid (2-1). Consecutive 1-1 draws vs Paris Saint-Germain and Leeds followed, before a 4-2 defeat to Amorim’s AC Milan. Ironic, eh?

Head-to-head record

Two of the previous three Premier League encounters between these sides finished 0-0, including the most recent in February 2017.

United are unbeaten in their last five top-flight trips to Hull, winning four of those matches.

Team news

Hull have significant injury issues ahead of kick-off. Eliot Matazo, Jack Butland, Darko Gyabi, Oscar Zambrano, Charlie Hughes, Hidemasa Morita and Cody Drameh are set to be ruled out, while Matty Jacob, John Egan, Enis Destan, Jens Hjerto-Dahl, Liam Miller and Paddy McNair are all doubts.

Manuel Ugarte and Karl Darlow are unavailable for United, while Matthijs de Ligt is also very unlikely to make the squad. Benjamin Sesko, Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount and Tom Heaton are rated as doubts. New signings Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos should feature from the off here.

Hull vs Manchester United Odds

Hull vs Manchester United Betting Tips

Anytime goalscorer – Bryan Mbeumo @ 2.33

Mbeumo scored three goals in pre-season, including both strikes in United’s 2-1 victory over Atletico. With Sesko’s fitness still the subject of debate, Mbeumo could line up as the team’s No9 – and he is therefore the standout pick in this market.

Player to score or assist – Bruno Fernandes @ 1.57

It is rare that a Premier League game passes by without Fernandes notching a key contribution. The Portuguese playmaker scored or assisted in nine of his final 11 top-flight appearances in 2025-26, a quite ridiculous record. Need we say any more?

Both teams to score – Yes @ 1.87

While we expect United to secure all three points here, Hull can make things a tad difficult by joining the visitors on the scoresheet. The Red Devils kept just one clean sheet in six pre-season friendlies, and the potential absence of star defender Martinez makes the defensive side of the game a tad more difficult for Carrick’s troops.
